How many devices do I need per tree, shrub, or plant?
You should match the number of devices to the number of emitters in your system. Ideally, a mature tree will be watered by up to 6 emitters - or possibly even more for very large trees. Bushes and other plants will typically be watered by 1-2 emitters. If trees and plants have grown and matured since you installed your irrigation system, you may find that you need to add some emitters for optimal irrigation and fertilization coverage.
Do I have to purchase special fertilizer?
No. Just fill the FertaRoot devices with your preferred granular fertilizer - following the product's recommendations based on size and maturity of each tree or plant.
Will the FertaRoot devices hold up in my hot or cold climate?
Yes! The devices are made of weather and UV-resistant materials - and are designed to provide many years of reliable service.
Do the FertaRoot devices require any special maintenance?
No. At the beginning of each fertilization season (typically each Spring and Fall), simply refill your devices with fresh fertilizer. Note: it is normal for some residual material to be left in the device from the prior season. Granular fertilizers contain some inert, non-soluble ingredients. If this material starts to build up in the device, simply flush with a garden hose before refilling.
How much fertilizer does each device hold?
Each device can hold up to 2 cups - or approximately 1 pound of granular fertilizer. Convenient fill lines provided on the inside of the device will aid in proper filling.
What size drip lines fit into the FertaRoot device?
The device is designed for use with standard 1/4 inch drip line - sometimes called "spaghetti line" or micro-tubing.
